We were approached by a staffing agency that wanted to be more competitive against other agencies. They worked primarily in the tech industry and needed a more competitive benefit package to attract employees as well as appear more competitive to potential clients. The challenge of having uniformed benefits and networks in every state limited their competitors’ options to mostly all offer the same health carrier that is well hated in the industry for denying claims.
We decided to make their health benefit their differentiator. We set them up with a tiered plan that is completely level funded. We were able, then, to select a la-carte networks to accommodate staff in rural areas of Idaho as well as metro markets like Chicago. We used a Third Party Administrator who was aggressive about negotiating down rates for procedures and other medical costs. We decided to use an AI based underwriting service to make easy work of collecting employee data for underwriting their plans. And we brought in a stop gap insurance carrier who specialized in their agency size. We are looking next year to add a network of Direct Primary Care providers and drive their utilization to further lower their costs and hopefully even receive a check back the next year.
